Artisan Brewing in the heart of yorkshire

We are passionate about producing interesting traditional beers using the latest technique and technology to ensure each brew is true to its conception. Whilst the brewery is a new addition to the operation at The Black Swan, we are not new to brewing. Having started The Bosphorus Brewing Company in 2012, we've brought our experiences of beers from the place of their birth in Anatolia back to the UK where we not only replicate the brews we became famous for, but have introduced all new takes on some beers from closer to home. All our beers take their character from aspects of great railways of the world.

Come and visit us, have a look around and taste the beers at The Black Swan. Alternatively, look out for our products on tap at a quality venue near you.

If you'd like us to bring something different to a pub near you, get in touch and let us know.

Our beers

Half Wit

A real one-off of a beer. Starting life as a lager, an fortunate mistake brought about an addition of wheat malt to the grain bill! At heart this is a Dortmund lager enhance by the unmistakable fruitiness of a wheat beer. If you're looking for a crystal clear lager, then this is not for you. If you want a crisp full bodied beer with tons of flavour, then this might just be your wheat point!

ABV 5.4%

Istanbul Pale Ale

Inspired by the beers that were popular in the beer gardens of Constantinople at the turn of the 20th century, Istanbul Pale Ale (IPA) is a full bodied well hoped pale ale. Using the finest Maris Otter malt and English hops, this is certain not to disappoint.

ABV 4.6%.

Coal Porter

A  rich smooth classic porter. Balanced and full of flavour, neither too bitter nor too sweet, Coal Porter is faithful to the porter recipes that drinkers in 19th century London would have recognised. Drinkers of porter beers from Trumans and Barclay Perkins would have been well catered for on their trips to Yorkshire had we been around a 100 years ago!

ABV 4.9%

Great Scot

To celebrate the arrival of the Flying Scotsman locomotive on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in 2016, we brewed a 70/- bitter. A fitting tribute to an engine that was born in Doncaster (our brewers home town) and was took thirsty Scots home for a pint of heavy each day.
